In celebration of Pride Month, Centre Stage Community Theatre presents Perfect Arrangement by Topher Payne, a play in two acts.

It’s 1950, and new colors are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, have been tasked with identifying so-called “sexual deviants” within their ranks. There’s just one problem: both Bob and Norma are gay, and have married each other’s partners as part of a carefully constructed cover.

Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the American gay rights movement, Perfect Arrangement blends sharp, classic sitcom-style humor with powerful, thought-provoking drama. As the stakes rise, two “All-American” couples are forced to confront the truth behind their carefully curated lives—and ultimately, to stare down the closet door.

Kids are invited to bring their bikes, scooters, and trikes to the library, whose parking lot will be closed to vehicles and open for free riding.

There will be raffles for scooters, bike accessories, and a Family Pass to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. The Penn Yan Police Department will be on hand doing helmet fitting, the Yates Community Center will be making free ice cream sundaes for the kiddos, Yates County Public Health will have plenty of summer safety information for families, and the Southern Tier Library System will be there helping kids make license plates for their bikes.
