Get to know your neighbors
There was a knock at my door a few nights ago. In this day and age, if you don’t already know someone is showing up at your place, it can make a person nervous that some random stranger is standing at your door. But it wasn’t a random stranger, it was my neighbor. We usually only ever politely wave at each other on the sidewalk. But instead, he and his partner had baked us cookies, and he wanted to formally introduce himself. We exchanged numbers so we could look out for one another, and I get to return his plate once the pile of cookies is gone (which will be very soon).
This kind gesture meant a great deal to me, and I’d like to invite you, dear reader, to do the same for your neighbor.
