Juneteenth is a national holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery. This year the holiday will be commemorated this Saturday, June 14th in Elmira, NY on Lake St right in front of Finn Academy, 610 Lake St, with vendors, performances, activities, and much more.

“River Fest is an annual community event celebrating the Chemung River. This festival features kayak paddles, live demonstrations, local food trucks, craft vendors, music, & more!

This year’s theme is Celebrating the River with water safety & recreation. We have an entire weekend of fun planned, with the River Fest Guided Paddle Kickoff on Saturday June 14th from 9am-2pm and River Fest on Sunday June 15th from 12pm-4pm.

Be sure to stop by and hear Elmira's very own Cantata Singers, with songs written about the Chemung River they will be one of the highlights of our River Fest celebration.”
